  • Full polyaspartic coating: $11.50 per sq ft
  • Existing coating removal: $2.50 per sq ft

In a full polyaspartic system, every layer is a polyaspartic coating, where a hybrid system uses a different chemistry for the base. Polyaspartics are a family of fast-reacting coatings widely used as top coats on garage floors. Using them for the whole system is a specific choice with its own trade-offs in handling, working time and cost.

The performance of any particular product is set by its manufacturer and differs between products. We do not quote manufacturer specifications on this page. The products proposed for your floor, and their data sheets, are provided with your written estimate.

Scope

What a full polyaspartic system involves

  • Assessment of the slab, with particular attention to moisture and surface condition
  • Mechanical preparation of the concrete
  • Polyaspartic base coat applied to the prepared slab
  • Decorative broadcast, where a flake finish is selected
  • Polyaspartic top coat
  • Guidance on returning the floor to use, based on the products installed

For this system, whether preparation and equipment are included in the per-square-foot rate is confirmed in your written estimate.

Preparation and installation

How the system is installed

  1. Assess

We check the slab's surface, cracks and moisture signs. Fast-reacting coatings leave little room to correct problems mid-installation, so conditions are confirmed first.

  2. Prepare mechanically

The concrete is ground to a clean, open profile so the base coat can penetrate before it sets.

  3. Repair

Cracks and defects listed in your estimate are treated and ground flush.

  4. Apply the base coat

The base is mixed in small batches and applied in sections sized to the material's working time.

  5. Broadcast, if selected

Flake is broadcast into the wet base. After curing, the excess is removed and the surface scraped.

  6. Apply the top coat

The top coat is applied in the same controlled sections to avoid lap marks.

  7. Cure and hand over

We give you guidance on foot traffic and vehicles for the products used and the conditions on the day.

Finish and system choices

Finish directions

A full polyaspartic system can be finished in more than one way. Rendered swatches for illustration; actual finishes are chosen from physical samples.

Rendered swatch: Flake finish
Flake finish

Flake broadcast into the base and sealed under a clear top coat.

Rendered swatch: Warm flake finish
Warm flake finish

The same build in a tan and cream blend.

Rendered swatch: Solid finish
Solid finish

A uniform pigmented surface without broadcast.

Rendered swatch: Dark solid finish
Dark solid finish

A deep, even color. Shows dust more readily.

Swatches are rendered illustrations, not photographs and not manufacturer colors. Actual finishes are selected from physical samples.

Scope boundaries

What is not included, and what we assess on site

These are the points most often left unsaid in an estimate. We would rather you read them here than discover them later.

Important exclusions

Not included unless listed in your estimate

  • Existing-coating removal, additional heavy grinding, moisture mitigation and leveling, which are added only when required
  • Significant crack and spall repair beyond what is listed
  • Stem-wall and vertical coating, unless listed
  • Any performance figure not stated in the manufacturer's data sheet for the product used
Requires assessment

Conditions we check before pricing

  • Moisture conditions in the slab
  • Slab temperature and humidity on installation day, which affect working time
  • An existing coating and how it is bonded
  • Cracks, pitting and contamination
  • Whether a hybrid system would serve the floor equally well
  • Small projects below the review threshold for this system

Public rates

What it costs to start the math

Projects in this system under $3,250 are reviewed individually. That is a review threshold, not a surcharge.

Polyaspartic Floor Coatings FAQ

Questions about this service

General questions

How is a full polyaspartic system different from the Full-Flake Hybrid?

The difference is in the layers. A hybrid uses one chemistry for the base and another for the top coat. A full polyaspartic system uses polyaspartic materials for both. The finished floors can look alike; the choice is about the materials underneath.

Is full polyaspartic better?

Not automatically. Each approach has strengths, and the right one depends on the slab, the conditions and how the floor will be used. We explain the reasoning for our recommendation rather than steering every project to the most expensive system.

Can it be installed quickly?

Polyaspartic coatings react quickly, which shortens the time between coats. How long your project takes still depends on the preparation and repairs the slab needs, its size and the conditions on the day. We do not promise a fixed completion time in advance.

Will you give me the product data sheets?

Yes. The products proposed for your floor are named in your written estimate, and we provide the manufacturer's data sheets on request so you can read the stated performance for yourself.
